Synopsis

The Ten Commandments are a set of rules or laws, God gave to the people of Israel. The commandments exist in different versions. One version can be found in the Book of Exodus of the Bible. Another version can be found in the Book of Horeb. In the book of Exodus, the mountain is called Mount Sinai, the book of Horeb talks about Mount Horeb. Both are probably different names for the same mountain. The rules were written on stone tablets. These rules are important for Judaism and Christianity and for all societies based on their principles.

Sometimes these rules are also called Decalogue (from Greek, can be translated as ten statements). The name decalogue first occurs in the Septuagint. The Jews received the commandments after they had left Egypt during the reign of Pharaoh Thutmose. There are different texts talking about the commandments. Most of them are in the Bible: The Book of Exodus, Chapter 20 and the book of Deuteronomy, Chapter 5. The Noble Quran mentions the tablets but does not list exactly the same commandments. For instance The Noble Quran verse 17:23-39 starts with worshipping God alone (Tawhid) and honouring your parents.

Los Diez Mandamientos son un conjunto de reglas o leyes, Dios le dio al pueblo de Israel. Los mandamientos existen en diferentes versiones. Una versión se puede encontrar en el Libro del Éxodo de la Biblia. Otra versión se puede encontrar en el Libro de Horeb. En el libro de Éxodo, la montaña se llama Monte Sinaí, el libro de Ho reb habla sobre el Monte Horeb. Ambos son probablemente nombres diferentes para la misma montaña. Las reglas fueron escritas en tabletas de piedra. Estas reglas son importantes para el judaísmo y el cristianismo y para todas las sociedades en función de sus principios.

Algunas veces estas reglas también se llaman decálogo (del griego, se pueden traducir como diez declaraciones). El decálogo de nombre aparece por primera vez en la Septuaginta. Los judíos recibieron los mandamientos después de que salieron de Egipto durante el reinado del faraón Thutmosis. Hay diferentes textos que hablan de los mandamientos. La mayoría de ellos están en la Biblia: El Libro de Éxodo, Capítulo 20 y el libro de Deuteronomio, Capítulo 5. El Noble Qu ran menciona las tablas, pero no enumera exactamente los mismos mandamientos. Por ejemplo El Noble Corán versículo 17: 23-39 comienza con adorar a Dios solo (Tawhid) y honrar a tus padres.
